چکیده

Positronium-formation cross sections from positron-hydrogen collisions are calculated by solving a set of close-coupled, time-dependent partial differential equations. These cross sections are determined by propagating a time-evolving wave packet on a two-dimensional radial lattice and then projecting the wave function onto the stationary states of the atom. Calculations are performed through L58 and are extrapolated for L>9 at energies of 30, 40, and 50 eV. Using distorted-wave calculations to determine ionization cross sections at these higher energies, we are able to extract approximate positronium-formation cross sections from the transfer ionization cross sections. Comparisons are made with experiment. @S1050-2947~98!02702-4#

روش جفت‌شدگی نزدیک دومرکزی در فرآیند انتقال بار

In the present work, the transition matrix elements as well as differential and total scattering cross-sections for positronium formation in Positron-Hydrogen atom collision and hydrogen formation in Positronium-Hydrogen ion collision, through the charge transfer channel by Two-Centre Close-Coupling method up to a first order approximation have been calculated. The charge transfer collision is ...

Hyperspherical Close-Coupling Calculation of D-wave Positronium Formation and Excitation Cross Sections in Positron-Hydrogen Scattering

Hyperspherical close-coupling method is used to calculate the elastic, positronium formation and excitation cross sections for positron collisions with atomic hydrogen at energies below the H(n=4) threshold for the J=2 partial wave. The resonances below each inelastic threshold are also analyzed. The adiabatic hyperspherical potential curves are used to identify the nature of these resonances.

Positronium formation in positron-Li and positron-Na collisions at low energies

We present the positronium formation cross sections for a positron colliding with lithium and sodium for the collision energies from 0.01 eV up to 20 eV by the hyperspherical close-coupling method. For Li, our results agree with the experimental data and with other calculations. Our results for Na remain in agreement with previous close-coupling calculations, but do not support the latest exper...

Positron collisions with Rydberg atoms in strong magnetic fields

We have calculated the rates for the processes that result from collisions of positrons with Rydberg atoms in strong magnetic fields. This is the first step in a two-stage charge transfer, which is being explored as a mechanism for the formation of cold anti-hydrogen. Unlike previous theoretical explorations we have also investigated the cases when the energy of the positrons can be comparable ...

Unified treatment of positron annihilation and positronium formation.

The effects of the positron (e(+)) annihilation in e(+) scattering by the H atom are included directly in the Hamiltonian as an absorption potential, and hence the finite lifetimes Gamma(ns) of positronium (Ps) in states ns are automatically taken account of. The Schrödinger equation is solved using the hyperspherical close-coupling method. The annihilation and Ps formation are shown to be inse...
